Change leisure battery under driver's seat

After 4 years of misconduct my T5 Calif needs a new AGM battery under the seat. But guess what: I can't get it out of there even when the seat is pushed all the way forward. Don't tell me I have to take the seat out to replace the battery. Help, anyone?

Have you tried with the seat turned round and pushed as far as it will go?

Yes, I have tried with the seat turned backwards. But then the battery will become even less accessible.

Is there a manual anywhere? Or is this job meant to be done by a VW dealer....

You are correct in that you will have to remove the seat when removing the second battery A1 under the left seat.

There are quite a few things that you have to take into consideration if you want to attempt the job yourself.

I would recommend that you get hold of the workshop manual ELSAWIN.
