Channel Islands

Has anyone ever taken their Cali to the Channel Islands? I've had a quick look at the ferry prices and these seem quite pricey (£450 return end August - early Sep including cabins from Portsmouth). We would plan to cycle everywhere or catch the bus. It appears there are at least two campsites including http://www.rozelcamping.com/index.html and http://www.campingjersey.com
