My chrome side trims have started to bubble up so added this to the list for the first service earlier this week, on picking up I was told it was due to damage and therefore not covered under warranty, I insisted on a second opinion knowing this was not the case and a technician confirmed there was no damage, I fear another battle is about to commence…….
Anyone else had the same issues?

If you mean side bars. We had chrome VW side bars on our 1st van 2012 to 2016 no issues. Our 2nd van 2016 to 2024 had black VW side bars paint pealed after 18 months did not get into a battle with VW just painted with hammeright each spring. Our new van 2024 back to chrome No issues yet. My feeling was the black ones were non OMD bars fitted by the dealer as negotiated when we bought the van. So are you are sure they are genuine ones fitted to your van. Secondly my expirence is if they have bubbled without damage there must be a fault.

Yes genuine as specified from new , will be ringing them today as not had a response, will post an update when concluded

The chrome strips on ours are immaculate after 3 years. It’s not bare chrome, it’s coated with a clear lacquer, something has got underneath the lacquer for it to bubble up.
Sorry about the reflection from a blue car in photo.

Yes looks like it maybe a lacquer issue as too new for corrosion through chrome and it’s on the full length

There is a version of Solvol Autosol for “ plastic chrome “ I’ve never used it so can’t vouch for it. Might be worth trying on a small area. Whatever you do don’t use normal Autosol Metal Polish.
