Hi all
Wondering if anyone has the cinch hub and what they think of it? It looks amazing and just the right size for us for a bit of shelter and storage on longer trips.

Wondering how it does in windy storm conditions in particular?

Also I had a link to a new beige/brown color as supposed to the green but it doesn’t seem to come up anymore on the website - is anyone able to find that version?

thanks
Yv

Hi, the Cinch is a remake of a similar Decathlon pop up base tent. We've had ours around 10 years. Sizewise we find it ok for leaving at a site or using it for bike/kit storage but otherwise it's a bit small, especially as the sides slope in. We generally use the larger inflatable Decathlon version rather than this, just for added space if we are on a pitch for a few days.

It's a nice smallish size to transport, goes up easily and (once you remember the technique) easy enough to fold again.

With enough guys it's ok in the wind.

There are earlier posts from a year or two back that you may find useful.

This link works, it has both colours on it. The new colour is called Rolling Stone, priced at £249, orders are being taken for delivery late June.

Here's another...keep scrolling...and use code CAMPER 10 for a free inner tent (worth £70)

We have used ours for the first time and are impressed with it. Easy to put up and down - although pegging out takes more time than I thought but still fine even for just one night.
I do think we need an extra groundsheet under it on hardstandings. We have an air awning for week long stays which is a bit bigger but I can barely lift it and it’s a hassle so I can see the cinch taking over just for it’s convienence even though it’s smaller!

Great thanks - we are only 3 and normally would just use a canopy when camping so I think this is still an upgrade for us! Just seems a lot easier than a Coleman type shelter and much much lighter and quick to put up. I was wondering if there is catch!

I don’t think there is a catch, as such, but it’s lightweight so perhaps wouldn’t stand up to high winds and driving rain? Our air awning just feels much heavier and sturdier, but I guess we won’t know until it’s tested......:)

I’ve just ordered my Cinch encouraged by the thought of putting up a drive away awning up in the pouring rain this weekend. My thoughts are if it gets wet it will be quite easy to pop up in the garden to dry out. The drive away is a right pain to dry out. Plan is to use it just for weekend trips and use the drive away awning for longer trips, as we do like using the connecting tunnel for the porta potty and enjoy extra space. Thanks @66tim99 for the code for the inner tent. It might come in handy if we camp with extra people or do a garden camp in the summer holidays.

Great, did you go for green or 'rolling stone'? I ordered a green one, then heard the bright colour attracts flies, so have changed to rolling stone ...

I went for rolling stone, I was so tempted with green but I have a beige beach so I think it will blend in better. Do you know if you can keep the groundsheet fitted when you pack it away? I’ve watched a few videos but they seem to Velcro it in afterwards.

We camped with friends this weekend. Out of the blue two turned up with rented campers. A T6 conversation that looked like a nightclub inside and a brilliantly ratty T25. The T6 dad tried to attach an awning for about half an hour but eventually stored his bags in our pop up Base Seconds (Cinch effectively) which he had seen me throw in the air and hammer in 6 pegs to put up.
Easily the best thing we ever got for the van.

I don't I'm afraid

We have a Base Seconds and you wouldn’t be able to leave the groundsheet in.

Good to see the size compared to a Cali. Have you noticed the green attracting flies?

Can’t say I have. Now you’ve mentioned it, I’ll be forever noticing them now!

We are waiting for our rolling stone hub to arrive. Also got the free inner tent thanks this forum (again!)

Just to jump on this thread, I’m also looking to get the Cinch Hub and wondered if anyone else has the additional inner bedroom, and whether it’s worth getting the dark or light option (noting that the code for a free inner bedroom only works on the light version) any photos of the inner bedroom would be helpful! Thank you.

568DBB3E-7F87-43C1-AEAD-BBB6BA50D7F1.jpegCurrently enjoying our third outing with our Cinch Hub and it suits us very well. With 2 young kids we tend to use it as a bit of a dumping ground for child seats and other detritus we take with us. It allows a really quick getaway for day trips and is a useful pitch marker. With youngest asleep in the van it can be a nice ‘games room’ too by easily accommodating the outside table and 4 chairs for some drinks/games under the LED bulbs provided.
The groundsheet is fitted with a combination of Velcro tabs (8 total) and toggles (4 corners) but does need to be removed for dismantling. That’s not a chore though and fits easily into its designated bag and pocket of the main ‘sack’.
I intend to use it for only 2+ night stays personally but can confirm it is a one-man pack away in under the time it takes to play ‘eye of the tiger’ (some mates played it ‘supportively’ while I folded it away last time….).
Height wise it lines up nicely with the awning so it can be used completely independently or on any of the 3 awning sides. Colour is quite a garish match to my Cherry Red and Mrs JunglieD definitely would’ve preferred the new beige one if it was an option. Can’t deny the practicality though - it stores pretty effortlessly on the parcel shelf - it’s a ‘cinch’ because I have a S2S SIM rather than comfort mattress.
It’s clearly a copy of the discontinued Decathalon Base but there are some iterative enhancements I believe (all minor). One change that can be seen as a negative is it does require more than 4 pegs for setup (8-16 before guys - depending if you choose to peg out the doormats). I suspect that it would perform slightly better in higher winds though because the guys options are plenty.
Go for it - you won’t regret it. If it doesn’t suit then you’d get the majority of your money back on the popular auction site anyway.

Anybody else get the email from Cinch today? Mine is going to be delayed until the end of July which is a bit disappointing because I had plans for it in a couple of weeks time.

Yes. Not surprised as there is currently a delay on so many things, we aren’t confident it will make July deliver, let’s wait and see.

Yes we did too. Not much that can be done as it’s out of their control. To be honest I would wonder if it might be delayed even further in reality. We will revert to small tent if it doesn’t arrive in time for our longer holiday.
Just happy we have our Coast really - reading about delays and lengthy waits for orders we are counting ourselves lucky overall.

A neighbour just rang to ask if he could borrow our roof box like last summer. Apparently they’re all sold out.
We are indeed lucky to have our vans.
