So on our nearly new MY2023 6.1 Ocean, the soft-close feature on the sliding door seems to be behaving a bit oddly (we have previously hired a MY22 Ocean so do have a benchmark). When letting it soft close, sometimes it decides to take three attempts at closing (so it pulls closed, releases then repeats that again twice). It’s totally inconsistent - sometimes it’s fine literally seconds later when I try it again with the same force. The other thing it does is a fast clicking sound once it’s closed, almost like a lock/unlock sound a few times over. Again not all the time and I don’t think it’s anything to do with if the vehicle is locked or not.

Has anyone else had these symptoms? I did search but struggled to find anything quite like it.

Cheers

Had same. The closure one just seems to be the small motor that pulls the door fully closed having a bit of a fit with the connection so it will open and close on it’s small motor until it’s happy the connection made and then fully close. Cleaned the connections, been fine since.

We also had the same when opening the door with it “snagging” and not quite catching the end catch - just cleaned the rails a little and sprayed silicon on them, work fine now.

So the contacts looked clean, I've given them a clean anyway so will see. I am more inclined to think it's the door closed push-switch on the rear of the doorframe that might be the culprit as the front is almost completely engaged by the time the soft-close initiates. I tried to get it to happen yesterday on the drive but couldn't - intermittent issues aren't half annoying . . . either it's fixed now, or it's waiting to catch me unawares.

Bumping this thread coz our van is driving me crazy!

Did you get to the bottom of this. Ours takes 3 attempts more often than it closes first time now. Cant figure out what the problem could be. I did ask the dealer, but they couldn't come up with anything.

We’ve got a similar issue, making a lot of clicking noises once the door is shut. It’s working though so I’ve just put up with it. Going for a service next month so I’ll put it on the list of things to look at.

I thought it was a van 'pitch' issue, but last site we were virtually perfectly level. Then though it might be a power issue, but yesterday we were on EHU and it was doing it. I also thought it might be a user technique issue, but ive tried all - soft, firm, push at back, hold pressure while it closes,....

Im stumbled. Wish it would use the 'extra effort' close (always its 3rd attempt) for the first attempt as standard.

Seems to do it on ours on a regular basis when Camping Mode is selected.
But also the roof is usually raised when we have Camping Mode enabled.
I wonder if either of these has something to do with it, or just coincidence.

I don't think I have ever noticed it happening when using the Cali as a daily driver, even if it has been parked up for some time and the battery isn't fully charged.

I thought that too... perhaps something to do with less air resistance inside allowing the door to bounce off the rubber seal on the first attempt ? who knows. very annoying tho - especially at night

... yep, did it just now. On driveway, EHU roof down and not in camping mode. Gentle push from rear of door,.. slide... electric assist (stops short of fully closed) and releases. Third attempt, motor puts in a little extra drive (or operates for a little longer,.. mmm?), and the door fastens.

Is your driveway perfect horizontal ? maybe the driveway is slightly uphill ?

Yep, same on mine. It’s been doing this intermittently for the last year - always pulls in fully closed on the third attempt. Probably only happens about 30% of the time; the other 70% the door soft closes on the first attempt.

I’ve only ever noticed it when camping (and hence in camping mode) but probably because I very rarely use the sliding door when using as my normal daily driver. I also thought it might be because of the pitch angle of the van (e.g. with the nose slightly uphill) but I’ve since convinced myself that this doesn’t make any difference.

Really annoying when using the door at night on a campsite…

Exactly!... Ive taken some videos, just need to find a dependable dealer to talk to

I had this the other week when camping mode was selected, for us locking the van and unlocking cures it....wired!
