Just back from a trip to Copenhagen. Our first road trip and a real success. A few things we learned and some observations that hopefully may be useful for others (for many these may be obvious, but just in case) ....

Motorway services/aires on the motorway from Calais through Belgium and Holland via Antwerp are grim. It's a route heavily used by trucks so always busy as well.

On German autobahn that little dot in your wing mirror becomes a large vehicle very quickly. Plan your overtaking!

Stop over in Bremen was worth it. Campground was 1200m from the city.

Ferry from Puttgarden to Rodby is great. If you have time take a detour to Stevns Klint.

If Copenhagen is a bike city why are the motorways approaching it so busy?

Copenhagen is beautiful. Great public transport. We stayed at Charlottenlund Fort campsite. 30 mins by bus to city centre. Site was great. Very clean and right by the beach. A magnet for Californias. Great kitchen area as well if you didn't fancy cooking in your van/outside.

Copenhagen card is worth investigating depending on what sites you want to visit.

Didn't have a stopover booked for return leg. Hit the jackpot purely by luck and found a small site near Osnabruck by a lake and a restaurant 100m away.

The stopover was as we had imagined travelling in our Cali would be. But you're never convinced until you try it!

Think I know which site near osnabruck. Agree, very nice.
