Covering the tailgate / roof gap.

How do members keep tree twigs, leaves and other debris from accumulating in the gap between the van roof and the top of the tailgate seal?
Regular brushing out?
I used some lengths T shaped rubber fillet, might try closed cell foam pipe lagging, short of an all over van cover does anyone have any other ideas?

Usually a quick wipe with a sponge or cloth when tailgate open stops any buildup.
