Another night, at around 1 am driving 70-80 km/hr on A7 near Ulm, in a very heavy rain plus a strong off-spray from wheels of cars/trucks ahead and bumper to bumper traffic caused by the heavy/oversized transport convoy 300m ahead I had my windscreen wipers running in a high gear for at least 20-30 minutes at that point and then..... they stopped. Very scary moment with no visibility and just a blur of red light in front. Good that I was in a right lane and after switching on emergency flashers practically blind coasted to the right emergency lane just about 50 meters before the exit which I took slowly. The rain was so hard that even rolling window down and sticking the head out did not provided security. Anyway, a call to VW assistance was not so reassuring.... we see you in the morning when our partner opens, I was told. Call to ADAC was a littler better.... we see you in two hours, I heard. In the mean time as rain almost stopped I decided to check the fuse. Looked at T6 forums and found which 30 amp fuse is assigned to front wipers. (Thank you forum!) Bingo, the fuse was blown! Replaced it and wipers started working again. Cancelled ADAC and an hour later I was at home after driving non-stop 1250km from the Polish Baltic trip.

Yesterday my VW dealer sent a safety ticket to Hannover and got quick authorisation to replace the electric motor next week. Warranty, of course, as the van is less than 2 years old. This incident could resulted in a serious pile-up on the autobahn and worse... Just writing this to remind everyone to expect unexpected at all times. Regarding the wiper motor... I do not know if this was an isolated incident or perhaps a known fault. Be aware. Safe motoring!

Thankfully, you made it home safely. A very good reminder to carry some spare fuses and understand where fuses for various components are located.
