Dash 12v socket and storage

What do peeps use the 12 v socket on the dash for and also the sort of indent in the dashtop, map just gives terrible reflections and cant think that with inbuilt Nav and wireless Apple Carplay that a separate Nav here would have been the plan.... dashcam maybe?? Interested in any perspectives..

Dashcam, 12v stays live all the time so 24hr monitoring on the dashcam. Also then easy to pull the plug when camping or dashcam gets activated all the time.

I use the 12v socket to run my Garmin satnav/dashcam when driving, purely for the dashcam side of it. I’ve never used the built in satnav as I prefer to use my phones satnav via Apple CarPlay.

I also keep dark beanie hat (with built in light) for those nighttime dog walks in the recessed bit of the dash.
