A few options for fuses in this thread...

Run the cable down to the fuse panel under the gear stick and use a piggyback fuse.

Where is the fuse panel. It was under the gear stick in my T5.1 but there's a bottle holder there in my T6. The chap from Halfords couldn't find it

The bottle holder comes out by pinching a clip inside and it comes away to reveal the fuse box.

Took it back to Halfords and they didn't charge for fitting. All good now. The laugh is that when I enquired at my local VW Van Centre they quoted me £234 for a 3 hour job.
