Dashcam powering off intermittently

We had a Thinkware U3000 installed some months ago. On one occasion it stopped working. I reseated the "fuse" arrangement, which didn't seem to be a problem and it started working again.

Yesterday the same thing happened. Worked for a while and then just powered off. Reseating made no difference but after the vehicle had been off and locked for a couple of hours, it worked again. But only for 10 minutes...

Could the chosen fuse socket somehow be only intermittently powered?

I also have a U3000 and you need to check the voltage cutoff in the app. This might be happening due to the battery voltage dropping to the cutoff. Also the best parking mode for low battery usage is the radar mode, but this is so low power that you can no longer access live view remotely. I typically use this mode in most cases, but if I take the van to a mechanic or some sketchy area where I want live view remotely I change the parking mode in the app.

Okay. So that explanation made sense given the faults I've been having.

I changed the voltage cut-off to 12v from 12.2v today and no problems.

Although I have the large battery and alternator there's lot "going on" as I'm towing the caravan with fridge and ATC operating.

Not a single problem in 8 hours towing today...

When I can I'll get a cigar plug voltmeter and see what that shows.

If you are using the OBDII power cable that came with it (assuming yes) this draws power from the starter battery and not the leisure batteries. FYI.

Had this problem many moons ago.....turned out it was a bad SD card.

Dash cam kept turning off. Breeze installed it, so they rechecked their work but a quick Google indicated a potential SD problem. Either way, swapping the SD card worked and it has been fine the last 6years

It's connected to the main fuse board under the steering wheel so not leisure battery.

On the later 6.1 all the 12V sockets are fed from the leisures, even the dash one, so a cigar voltmeter won’t give you the starter battery reading you need. I get mine from the solar MPPT or just use a voltmeter across the battery. As mentioned, the large battery makes no difference - the dash cam is fed from the starter given your feeds. I agree it’s likely the volt cutout and sounds like you have fixed it. Remember it’s pretty cold at the moment which effects batteries.
