Does anyone knop if the Aux heater of the 6.1 uses air from insiders the van ? And if so where is the air intake ?

Yes it does, intake is uk driver side ( Belgium passenger side) front step.

No, it doesn’t. The combustion chamber is outside, and air and exhaust fumes are taken in/come out outside your cabin.

Inside air is led across the heat exchanger, yes. The fan takes cold air in from the entrance in the footwell, and pumps hot air out through the vents in the B pillar. But that air is not ‘used’. It is just circulated.

Thnkx! Any tips to keep dog hairs out of the system. Apparently there is no filter and the heater stops if the fan which circulates the air gets clogged.
And if the dealers info is correct I can also only reach that fan by removing the bottom plate. Not something I planned on scheduling into my cleaning and maintenance routine.

At least they figured out (after 4 weeks) what was wrong with it

A fine mesh over the inlet in the footwell should stop dog hair getting in.

As that air is just the cabin air being recirculated it should be ok to do. As it is totally separate from the combustion side of things.
