Hi,

Just had out first run out to Scarborough!! Sat and had lunch in total comfort! Fantastic!!

On the drive over, we noticed that when you go above about 45mph - you can hear the wind/breeze around the roof! As we're total novices - we thought it was worth asking if this is normal? Other than that - she's very quiet!

Thanks

Kim

Kim, if you have a wind out awning it could be this as it does create some strange noises when doing a certain speed.

Thanks Martin - I'm sure it's fine.

I just wondered if anybody else experienced it - it's not very loud, but sounds like a bit of wind when you go over 45 (ish) mph. We opened the door for the roof & there wasn't any noise in there, so know its not coming into the van. It's a bit like wind resistance I guess. If nobody else experiences it, then perhaps we need to speak to VW.

Any comments, other observations would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Take the plastic covering off the mattress (if you have not already done so) - also just ensure the roof is pulled down.

The roof will come down but on mine, as it's new it just needs a slight pull - not too much.

That might cure it - also check that the shutter blind is pulled tight.

Thanks James,

We'll give it a try.

Kim :thanks

I had a similar problem today.

It was the plastic we still had on the upstairs mattress coupled with me not pulling the roof tight shut.

Let us know how you get on

Tried all that, and still a bit of wind noise.

In fairness, it wouldn't be noticeable if it wasn't for Bertha being so quiet!!! Spoke to Chris at VW about it and took her for a spin. They will happily investigate it, but there really doesn't seem to be any problems with it, and I think trying to 'stop' the noise may cause more problems...so I think we're going to see how it goes. As Martin has said, it could be the awning. Although when inside - it sounds like it's at the top of the windscreen. It's only when you go above 45 mph and doesn't seem to get worse. Tbh when the radio is on you don't notice it at all. I noticed a similar noise in my mini, but have to say Bertha is far more comfortable and overall quieter!!!

I am sorry Bertha Bus still has a noise :(

It might just be a teething noise? :)

I am glad you find it quiet and comfortable - it's not firecracker and I do miss the 6 speed box a bit but it has plenty of power to get about and cruise at 70.

I've been using the gear change icon to see if it makes any difference - I'm sad like that lol

Just to let you all know! Martin was correct the noise is actually from the awning! We had the windows down at the weekend and could hear it through the awning. It's just very deceiving when driving, but we're now absolutely sure that's what it is!

Going away in Bertha shortly for a week! Can't wait!!! It's by far the best vehicle we've ever owned in too many ways to mention....
