Word of warning for anyone using a drone in France.
You now need to register your drone here.
https://alphatango.aviation-civile.gouv.fr/login.jsp
Click in the GB flag to get the site in English.
It's very easy to register your drone and get a number which has to be attached to it.
Any drone over 800kg and you have to take a basic theory test as well. It's pretty simple but frustrating as the site keeps reverting back to French.
Also law that you have to have third party liability insurance. The easiest way to do this is to join the British Model Flying Club for 38 quid a year and get £25million cover.
You need to be able to produce all the documents if required to do so by the authorities.
The alphatango site also has the handy reference map of where you can and can't fly.
I have generally found the French very tolerant and interested if you fly a drone but not confirming to these regs carries some hefty penalties.
This is the sort of thing that will be law in the UK later this year as well.
This only refers to recreational use. If you get any reward then it's a whole different ball game the same as the UK.
