I am planning ahead for my next service. I used to use Thr Bury St Edmunds van centre but that didn't survive covid. The Cali technician moved to Ipswich I think.
Everywhere is a long way from here. So what are anyone's experiences of Norwich, Ipswich or Peterborough? Are there any other vw garages in the Cambridgeshire area that you have a view on, good, bad or indifferent would all be helpful!
Thanks in anticipation for new info.

Have mine serviced at P'boro. as it's local. Not been very impressed on more than one occasion.

If not a specific California item needing attention Vindis Huntingdon may be an alternative.

I am very happy with the service I get in Shotley, Ipswich IP9 1LG The sliding door which caused problems for many years worked perfectly after a visit to them. It is not a VW garage as such but then I prefer to go to a small garage than a main dealer.

There is also a independent VW garage in Stowmarket. Brookfield Garage IP14 3QB.I have not tied them.

I am Felixstowe based.

I have no experience of Peterborough. Norwich (Robinsons) are California specialists who were helpful when I spoke to them. But personally I would go to Ipswich VW (Marriot), even they they are not California specialists: so that camper specific items may need attention elsewhere. Ipswich have been faultless over my 5 VW cars including a 2006 Phaeton (not a simple vehicle) that I have had from new and which I still run - and they maintain it with the same customer care as when it was new (which it still feels and looks like).

I am waiting for my new California (ordered from Eurovans, Crawley because Ipswich are not California specialists) so have never used the Commercial section. But my trustworthy contacts on the car side speak highly of their commercial colleagues, and their wide range of customers with specialist vehicles (not just trade vans). I think the best contact there - if you have specific technical issues to discuss - might be a Chris Lingley, though that information is quite old and may have changed.

I would be interested to hear what you discover and decide.

We had our van's free services done at the van center section of Ipswich VW (Marriot). All seemed OK and only switched to a garage we had used for years for convenience. The mechanics there changed so now changed again to one we are very happy with now but will keep Marriot in mind.
As my van is a beach there is very little that can not be sorted as any van so so far we have not needed a specialist California service center other than having a tow bar was fitted. We went to Preston where we brought our van from. We could not find anywhere locally as fitting a tow bar needed complicated cabling via the roof.

We have always used Robinsons of Norwich and have always found them very good.We have now ordered our 3rd from them. Always used them to service and mot since 2012 without any issues. Also an easy 15 min stroll into the City from there as well !

Really useful information as the sales part closed, I did not realise that the service part was running. I will phone them and interview them.....!

Great information thank you. The Cali experts from Bury St Edmunds went to Ipswich as far as I know and were top notch, they even read this Forum too. I will call them and find out. Thank you. The technician was called Chris too....

Our van came from Norwich, I had read some indifferent comments about them but your reply makes me reconsider. Norwich is a great City to visit too. Thank you.
