The Kalkhoff Durban Compact G8 electric bicycle is another cleverly-designed German-made e bike for the modern urbanite.
It is lightweight, robust and very reasonably priced. In keeping with the ‘less is more’ concept this new Kalkhoff Durban model is based on the lightweight, durable ‘Groove Go’ rear wheel system with has exceptional battery life span.

The Compact Durban has plenty of power and a huge battery lifespan. This compact E-Bike is powered by Kalkhoff’s proprietary Groove Go motor system. This new system is a 36 V / 250 W rear hub motor which draws from a 7ah (252Wh) Lithium Ion battery. It gives you assistance levels equivalent to 0 % / 50% / 100 % which, for ease of operation, are controlled via a button on the battery. Kalkhoff has meticulously engineered this powerful, tough, small battery to reduce the overall weight. The battery can be fully charged in under four hours. Where normally small batteries have a short life span the battery on the Durban Compact has a massive 1100 full cycles before it’s capacity starts to reduce. This is a system that provides more than adequate power and range for modern inner city living and delivers it in a lightweight, compact design.
