I think I know the answer, but will ask anyway...

Does the Cali's wiring have any available with-ignition-only connection points for little accessories?

I want to fit a 12v/5vUSB converter just to power my GPS but can't imagine where I am going to find a power source, other than the always-on cigar lighters.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I did a lot of Googling on this & found TravelVolts, specialising in VW Transporter Electrics...

Telling them clearly I was not about to purchase anything from them, I asked if they had a lead (ha, ha...)

Here is the reply I received very rapidly.
I will check it tomorrow, but I pass it on in case it helps anybody else, or helps TravelVolts, who deserve custom!

Hi, the best place to take a feed for this is from the thick black/yellow wire on the back of the headlight switch. You will need to add an appropriate fuse at this point as well as the circuit is 30 amp rated. All the other switched circuits are too sensitive to carry additional loads of any size.

If your expected load will not exceed 3 amps then you could take it from the brown/red wire at the rear of fuse 19. This supply stays live until you remove the key so you could still operate the GPS without the engine running.
Hope this helps.

Travelvolts, seems to be really professional, I will keep the address for the future.

I took the supply for the glove-box sockets simply from the wiring of the lighter in the drawer, through additional fuse and connectors to maintain the glove-box removable.

just a voltage level relay into a socket? When above 13v live when not shut down?
