Hi, looking for some advice on EMS icon appearing on dash.
Last two journeys ( approx 20 miles each ) icon came on constant amber .
Decided better book into dealer to check out /diagnose and decide not to drive until diagnosed.
This morning needed to use the van on the same journey, icon still showing , however on the return journey, ignition on …. no icon !
Should I cancel the dealership booking or just check it in anyway. I’ve got another two weeks till appt. so I could run the van a few times see if it reappears.
All views appreciated.

Buy a Carista. Look up the codes.

Amber generally means ok to drive but get checked out. I drove on an amber for a year once I know what it was.

Generally, a steady orange light with no other warnings or error messages is something which isn't serious enough to mean you shouldn't drive the van. A flashing orange light means stop ASAP and get to a workshop.

I had the steady light a few months ago, kept going and coming back. Used ODBEleven (similar to Carista) to diagnose and came back as a stuck coolant valve. Was going to ring the dealer to book it in when got an email from them to say the van had notified them it had a fault!

Van went in a week or so later, was indeed a broken valve, all fixed under warranty. Van is a MY22 Ocean 150.

I used to use Carista, found it pretty straightforward, but switched to ODBEleven as gave me more options to customise things and turn on some features. In terms of using them for diagnostics, it's quite easy, plug the device in to the ODB port and follow the instructions in the phone app.

I would imagine , your van had not done a Regen for a while and it managed to complete the regen on the last journey, which woukd have turned the light off.

A good OBD scanner compatible for vw (not just Carista) will tell you what the fault code is , then you look the code up on line
