When driving slowly over a speed bump the ESP warning light is sometimes flashing. It happened to me here in the Netherlands and in Spain, where you got lot's of these bumps. I wondered if there is something wrong with the van, this issue occurred already at a low mileage.
Volkswagen UK writes the following:
" An amber electronic stability programme light means that action is required" and:

1. Is the ESP light on constantly or does it flash on sometimes while driving?

Flash sometimes: If the ESP light flashes while the vehicle is in motion, the ESP or traction control system is intervening. This is a normal feature.

On constantly: The ESP light may be constantly lit if the "ESP off" button was pressed. The ESP can be reactivated by switching off the ignition and then on again. If the ESP light goes off, the system is fully functional. Go to step 2.

2. Is the ESP light still on?

Yes: The ESP light is still on. The vehicle can still be braked in the normal way.

No: The ESP light is not on. The customer does not need to take any further action and can continue driving.

If the ESP light is on continuously (and the ESP/ESC system is not switched off), you should contact your Volkswagen Retailer to have the system checked.

Anyone have the same issue? Is it really " a normal feature" ?

(I checked for similar posts)

Yes normal feature and probably related to speed, angle of approach and height of speed bump. Check tyre pressures are correct especially on the same axle.

My 4motion used to do it along with the twanging noise of the ABS cutting in if going at anything more than walking pace over certain speed bumps.
I assumed it was due to the steepness of them meaning the back wheels had to rotate faster than the fronts to keep up or something like that.
