VW California content. Love how the Cali owner kept cool while the caravan was getting sh!t mixed just ahead of them.
Had that happen to us.On the M4, rear offside corner clipped by wing mirror of a coach that pulled out to overtake us. Ended up with caravan on its side and car in middle lane, rear in the air and a 38 ton Hgv with smoking wheels bearing down on us in the middle lane. He stopped protecting us from the traffic and a minibus full of rugby players stopped and righted the van so it could be unhitched and car and van put on hard shoulder. Caravan was a right off. Car needed new towbar.Did well to keep that within the two lanes and had the sense to end up facing the right way on the hard shoulder.
There’s something special about that feeling you get when your rear wheels are off the ground & you realise that the trailer is dictating the moves.
All's well that ends well - the tail wagging the dog is no joke. No stabiliser fitted perhaps.VW California content. Love how the Cali owner kept cool while the caravan was getting sh!t mixed just ahead of them.
yep, the open hatch is exactly over the axle, one can imagine at speed that would tilt the weight towards the back of the caravan therefore reducing weight on the car' rear axle...The caravan's roof vent is also wide open. This apparently can also cause instability in a caravan due to pressure fluctuations. Sounds like a comedy of errors that led up to that situation.
