Hello there,
Thank you very much for letting me join.
I’ve wanted a campervan and in particular a VW campervan for as long as I can remember, just never been able to afford it.
Last year we bought a Mazda bongo, our Dolly. She’s 20 years old not fully converted as she still has all her seats but does have a kitchen and and quite a bit of storage, however discovered that I needed a fair bit more as I am an amateur photographer and a new computerised telescope owner… so I need a van that I can take out somewhere where it’s pitch black in the middle of the night look at the stars look at the planets jump in the van and be instantly warm, unfortunately Dolly couldn’t do that and it would cost too much to sort out and change.
So last weekend we bit the bullet and put a deposit down on a VW California Ocean Surf 2024 model, apparently the very last one to be sold in Jersey!
This model didn’t come with fog lights, parking assist, rear camera or an awning so we’ve ordered an awning, rear and front dash cam, and window deflector on the driver and passenger doors.
We are stupidly excited to get hold of it and go off and spend hours in it knowing that we will be nice and warm make a cup of tea and stay wherever we want to be for as long as we want.
