Because we use Really Useful Boxes to store all our belongings the 12v outlet in the boot is not very accessible so I have put an extra socket on a trailing lead.
The cover on the rear heater pulls off very easily and revealed are the wires that feed the socket but you can't get to the back of the socket and the trim panel it's mounted on covers a vast area so I didn't fancy dismantling half the rear interior so I decided to cut into the wires where I could see them.
The joints were soldered and then heat shrink was used.
I just did 1 wire at a time so as not to blow any fuses.
Red wire was connected to the centre pin as you would expect but you never know on modern vehicle electrics!
There is a nice gap at floor level to get the wire through.
I used a Tamiya type socket because a trailing cigarette socket is massive to leave lying around.
