Hi, I haven’t used these but I’m about to go into my first winter with Falken Wildpeak AT3’s and they have a fantastic reputation for snow and are also 3 peak rated. I’m not any tyre without studs really perform on ice.Anyone experienced using Falken HS01 Eurowinter tyres? ('23 Ocean 4motion, 255/45/18 103V tyres).
Grateful for any comments re use in snow/ice.
I have seen some poor reviews for Wildpeaks in snow and snow performance is what I am looking for.
Why Falkens out of interest? There must be tons of stuff online to help decide which is the best tyre brand in snow?
It’s a funny thought process in my opinion.
We must have winter tyres if travelling to the Alps (which we do). I wouldn’t consider going without chains so all you really need is a tyre from a well known brand.
If it’s bad weather then you’re fitting chains.
I refuse to believe any of us could blindly tell the difference between any of the well known brands.
Last year we ran Yokos. Behaved well. Never needed chains.
These caught my eye. One of the lowest decibel rating and a B for wet weather (virtually all the others are C).
I can’t seem to find any snow/ice ratings for them.
Solid brand.
I thought Best Practice was to put new tyres on the Rear no matter if it is FWD/RWD or 4 wheel drive, and having the same tyres on one axle , so permissable to have different tyres on each axle but similar in capability.I’m in that annoying/interesting situation where I need two new front winters whilst the rears are still healthy.
Do I change brand and try something different (assuming the rears will be done before the new fronts etc) or stick with the Yokos?
Tempted to try Continental. Reassuringly German/expensive.
Please keep me/us updated re. the upgraded CC’s… I was thinking to change to these when I’ve got to renew tyresJust fitted new cross climate 3 on the front, If I’m honest, I struggle to tell the difference between different tyre brands etc, especially on a van.
Not got them muddy yet.
Good point. I forgot that was a thing especially given my van has a rear anti roll bar (was that standard kit?) which would tend to make it neutral/oversteery, should it ever come to that!I thought Best Practice was to put new tyres on the Rear no matter if it is FWD/RWD or 4 wheel drive, and having the same tyres on one axle , so permissable to have different tyres on each axle but similar in capability.
Nice. Feedback when you get to use them in anger.Just to complete original thread I ended up going for Dunlop SP WinterSport 5 £186 per tyre fitted locally with £50 Amazon vouchers (so effectively £694). Very quiet, not used in snow yet!
