Off road tyre opinions

Just a photo to clarify rear tyre clearance with a 235/60/17 which is the same as a 235/55/18

Hi would it be possible for you to take a picture of your van set at 35mm raised with the 235/60/17 wheels and tyres
i am booked in for a lift kit 35mm and I am interested to see how it will look with your tyre choice which I think is the best compromise.

many thanks

I like the looks of a AT tire but in only do 2% offroad.

Anyone who has suggestions besides the michelin latitude cross?

Tires I found:
- Continental Crosscontact ATR
- Yokohama Geolandar CV4S G061

I have General Grabber AT3 tires 235/55/17 103H thus matching homologation. Very pleased. No noise, good grip very good comfort. I only have to keep in mind to slow down in a solid rain... I was told. I spent a lot of time selecting it and I am not disappointed.

I have these. I agree they seem a lot quieter than I was expecting. Compared to the Michelin all season tyres I had before, these are not quite so good in the wet. They are a good option if your driving includes a small amount of off-road. They should also fit on standard 17 inch rims as well.

Thank you all for your comments,
I have to admit that I like the looks of the

I have to admit that I like the aggressive tread pattern of this tire.
But as i said, i barrely go offroad (to find a campingspot)
So I prefer better wet handling/breaking.

The Falken Wildpeak AT3 gets a lot of good feedback from people on the T6 forum (quiet, not too inefficient, grippy in the wet). That’s what I’m going with. I’ll be running 235/65x17.
Thank you for your input but they are not available in 235/55/17 so their not a option to me.
Because i live in belgium i have to use the original sizes, so a 215/60 or a 235/55 on a 17" wheel.
I have a 8j 17" wheel so 235 is the only option.

The other option that seems popular is the Cooper Discoverer ATT. Again, rolls well, good in wet etc. Again not sure if available in the size you seek.

Michelin Lattitude Cross Sport is but I think we’ve established that in the thread already.

I was also looking at the Geolandar CV 4S as an alternative for next year, because it looks to have a thread pattern that is a bit more aggressive than most all-season tires, but not too aggressive such as the Falkens and General Grabbers. The yokohamas are also a bit more wallet friendly, I must admit.

I’m looking for something that can cope with snow, 3PMSF, gravelroads and grass camping without too much difficulty on a 4motion without having a seasonal change. Probably 90% asphalt and 10% gravel.

No-one with first hand experience with these geolandars yet, I assume?

I came to the same conclusion, also not disappointed after an 8000km trip to the north of Sweden. 4season tires, handles bad condition roads very well (gravel, sand, rock, potholes) , spare fits all 4 positions, long life (10mm profile)
It is always wise to adjust speed when driving in heavy rain, other tires may be better but that does not mean Grabbers AT3 are really bad.

Is there much benefit in these sorts of tyres on a 2WD cali? I have a fear of getting stuck in mud (campsites not wild trails).

I had Yokohama Geolandar G015 215/75 R15 on my T4 2.4D california.
They where a lot higher than original so it gave more comfort but even less power.
It did it most of all for the looks but i asume it helped a bit.

From an old raised T6 I have a set of new:
-Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus 235/65 R17 108H XL (GAN) mounted on
-Modular Steel Wheel 17" x 8" ET40. Rated at 1200Kg PCD 5/120mm.
Will they work on my 2023 T6.1 Cali Ocean 4M+diff?
I have read some threads and as I understand it it should, but not sure as the Cali seems to be lowered som 3 cm in order to get the the awning under 2 m. The ET of the rims are also 40 which moves the center 5 mm outwards if I understand it correctly. I alos gess they will be off more then 5% in circumference so I might need to adjust the speedo.
Anyways, grateful for your input!
Edit: Oh, and would snow chains fit?

No Experience yet with fitting bigger wheels/tired and chains. But i suggest you just try and see. Be carefull that the wheels don't touch the brake calipers. And when you jack up the second side for mounting the wheels you can see if your bigger tires touch the arch somewhere.
