Hello all,

We are looking for recommendations for a decent campsite in the south east within 50 miles of Gatwick. This will be our first outing so ideally we would like toilet/shower and electrical hook up just in case as a minimum.

Looking at a overnight Saturday (possibly Sunday night too) to test out our Cali so any advice welcome.

Regards

If you don’t mind a campsite that’s a bit regimented you wouldn’t go far wrong with the caravan and moterhome clubs Brighton site.
walking distance to shops to get anything you’ve forgotten, and restaruants if the gas doesn’t work along with warders sorry wardens that can probably assist if asked, about things like electric hookup etc

last thing you want on your first trip is being stuck on your own in the middle of a field with nothing working.....

For our first trip (last year) we went to the camping and caravan club site in Chichester. It is a bit odd as houses have been built close up around the site, but the showers and toilets were clean, there is a pub at the end of the road, farm shop a short walk away, camping shop nearby for all those things you discover you need and a nice walk by the sea.

Make sure there is hardstanding for this time of year!

Thanks for your replies, very helpful. Probably end up in Washington if the forecasted storm gives this area miss

Agree with Ray W. I visited about 3 years ago for first trip - as it’s only 4 miles down the road and in middle of winter so many sites were closed. The facilities are incredible.

Look at Graffham campsite - beautiful woodland site. It is certainly the most ‘in touch with nature’ site we’ve used.

Thanks, only open April to October inclusive but looks great!
Oh - sorry to get your hopes up!

The kids and I went to Stubcroft Farm last week.
Stubcroft
Mostly closed off due to weather this time of year but they have some hard standing overlooking fields. We liked it - not the usual ‘Motorhome parking lot’ - quiet & peaceful.

Not at all, thanks for the suggestion as it’s definitely one we will visit, Stubcroft too as we are looking for lots of weekend getaways.
