We have had our GC 680 on order since June last year.

We have gone through 3 build slots, shutdowns, tooling changes and now not sure we have been getting the whole truth.

Yesterday a typical chase up from us ended up with someone new chasing our order as the usual person wasn’t in. The info we were told by this new person was different to the story being told prior.

Annoying but you only hope that you are just being told the truth and not a story to appease you.

Hopefully all will be sorted but won’t be in time for our Easter trip

Sad to hear.
I hope you can receeive your new toy anytime very soon and try to forget this awful experience.
In the meantime we all cross our fingers for you.

It is our first campervan after renting for years. We just want the journey to begin.

Just be thankful you did not order one through the pandemic like some of us - 12+ months was very usual and more or less what we hit. It will come and all will be forgotten.

It definitely will be easily forgotten. I ordered a golf GTI in lockdown and was here in 7weeks

I wouldn’t bother chasing it. Hundreds of us did the same only ends in frustration just wait for the call to say came and get it.

I’d be inclined to cancel it and buy one that’s in stock

Are you still at status 20? We been advised ours is at the end of the production line this week????

Yes still at status 20, have been told it is at port but still awaits parking sensors to complete. Which doesn’t make sense why they would release it from factory. What do I know though

I used to work in the car industry. Where there is a stock shortage, say for parking sensors, it is perfectly normal to offline them into the compound for later rework. Else you have to stop a production line at a cost of about 1 million an hour. Which you don’t do. For a parking sensor. When the sensors come in a team will go around retrofitting them. Sometimes at the DE port. Sometimes the UK one. Sometimes the dealer. Depends.

There remains global supply chain issues, especially for electronics, some caused by the ongoing war where supliers are affected, sometimes for other reasons. Capacity. Production. Parts failures.

All frustrating for you. All normal for the car industry.

I have asked the question if it would be possible to fit at dealer to actually have the van over here. Maybe I could have the tracker fitted while awaiting the parts.

I feel the frustration seems to be a lack of information available from the factory to the dealer which then has us the customer wondering what’s happening.

The dealer can’t tell us updates if they aren’t informed what’s happening from factory

Dealers don’t talk to factories. Dealers use a system that tells them where the vehicle is by status. They don’t get much more. Sometimes the UK head office will send them info. Sometimes not. Sometimes the factory will send info to the UK HO. Usually not. There is no direct link or a red phone in a factory manned by someone taking daily calls from tens of thousands of dealers globally. There are a thousand issues like this happening every day at a factory. Your sensors are just one of them. If they send a bulletin out for every one of them they would not have time to fix the problems or build cars.

You’re looking for solutions when the only solution is to wait. No OEM is going to send a half built Van to a dealer. The system works. Sometimes fast. Sometimes slow. But it works.

It will be worth the wait. It is all very frustrating but your collection day will come soon enough.
In the meantime sit back and try not to get too frustrated, I remember what it was like when I ordered mine. Delay after delay.

Have waited over 2 years during the bad 'ol days for my Cali Coast I can assure you this is true. The fretful days of waiting will be a distant memory once you get on the road and start to enjoy it. Heck even the affliction of a leaky poptop hasn't dampened my enjoyment. Patience is a virtue.
