Do most owners get away with declaring their Cali as being within the 1.94m height limit and thus avoiding excess charges?

When I used the Dover-Calais ferry I think we booked as a car > 1.85m height and they were happy with that.

On some ferries such as the Irish Ferries boat from Holyhead they ask your height for a reason

The reason being is that the ramp up to the car decks has a height restriction so If you are over that height you will need to be parked on the main freight deck

They obviously plan how many vehicles can fit in the given space so when it comes to height restriction personally I would be honest
