First service (2 years) - on service plan

Just dropped my Cali off for its first service, part of the 2 Free Services plan when we bought it. It’s 2 years old. The van centre said that the brake fluid and the Haldex fluid are both due for change, £70 and £140 respectively, not covered in the Service Plan. A bit annoying to say the least but I’ve agreed to get it done whilst it’s there. Are they correct?

Yes.
Brake fluid, AirCon, Haldex and DSG not covered.

Haldex seems early.... also suspect the prices are plus VAT as I paid more for a brake fluid change recently.

£140 for a Haldex is pricey considering the amount of oil. I did the 5th gen on my Volvo, two 10mm bolts, remove, clean and refill. About 30mins tops crawling under a car, and cleaning it on a bench

Thanks both. After some research it’s every 2 years for the Haldex on 6.1’s apparently. Oh well, it is what it is and I’m just hoping they do a decent job and don’t damage my van, always nervous taking it anywhere. It’s a pain being fussy lol

My vans just coming up to two years, had it serviced a couple of months back, had a text last week from the dealer stating the brake fluid needs changing. had another text this week saying DSG needs an oil & filter, not had one yet about the Haldex.

I believe the DSG doesn't need doing until 40k miles or 4 years ?

Probably changed on T6.1 but on my T5.1 4Motion Haldex & DSG were 2 yrs or 40,000 miles whichever was sooner, which was the regimen I kept to.

my 2017 T6 DSG was done for the first time i believe, at 40,000 in September (i timed it so it was just 9 miles short of 40,000!!) at VW Hereford
VW Hereford said nothing more than it was due to 40,000 when they MOT'd and Serviced it back in March. i didn't realise that there was also a time limit on the service interval for DSG oil and filter

the way it is being used in my ownership, the next 40k will be covered certainly in less than 4 years!

Is there anywhere I can find an official list of service items and times ? All my other vehicles had provided this - oil change every (X) or variable, Brake Fluid, Coolant, Haldex Oil, DSG Oil, Cambelt etc.

I cover about 5k miles PA. I had an oil service in the summer at one dealer and warranty work in the autumn - no mention of further work. Warranty work at a Cali dealer two weeks later and I am told that at 2 years old, brake fluid and Haldex oil need replacing. I suggested that factory fill for brake fluid is normally 3 years, but on T6.1, no every two years from new.

It seems to me to be random, and very disconcerting that it was only mentioned once the Cali was in their workshop. It would very useful if the official servicing schedule was available somewhere to allow for planning and budgeting !

I know exactly what you mean and share your frustration. Below is the service schedule for a Triumph motorbike ( part of ) It is available online to anyone whether they own a Triumph or not. Simple and transparent.
Can you get similar for a California ? I don’t know how. The service centres obviously know what the schedule is but will they share it with you ? I don’t know.
