First Time Cali Owner - Deposit paid, have to wait until October.

Evening all,

Great to find this Club and the Forum has been very helpful.

I have never owned a Camper before and have taken the plunge and left a deposit on a current demonstrator from my local Cali dealer when it comes up for sale in October. I am however going to rent a Cali in August to make sure the dream matches the reality for a family of 4...

Incidentally, I can't believe how tricky it is to find an insurance quote for these vehicles, I found that many main companies (such as Aviva) don't insure them at all and Compare the Market, couldn't 'Compare the Market' as they didn't even return a quote. With a couple of comparison websites coming up with one company priced an £10.5k p.a for a 45 year old....I have however managed to get a good quote from Comfort Insurance.

We are thinking of going to the coast in Dorset for the 1st night, heading to Devon for the 2nd night and North Somerset coast for the 3rd.

That's the plan, let's see if it survives

Although I am not familiar with these places: Coast sounds great to me (especially with any van)! Look forward to your "first" impressions of getting away with a California.
