Fitting side bars to Beach T6.1

I have bought a set of tubular side bars for my Beach. I have successfully fitted the drivers side (pictured) but have hit a snag with the passenger side.

I’ve removed the front plugs in the cill to fit the T shaped bracket fixings but there are plastic parts immediately behind them, preventing me from inserting the fixings. Any suggestions ?
