Hello,

Im looking for an actual freezer box,not a cool box to go in the back of the cali.Im going away for a week or so,taking my dogs with me,but their food is the frozen kind, need to store a few days in a freeze unit.
What I've seen so far are just cool boxes.

I know i could put my dogs on dry food or alternative food for the short time but i would rather not.

Any ideas?
Thanks

Sounds like you need a Mobicool B40 :thumb

We ordered from - http://www.minicoolers.co.uk/products/waeco/b40.htm

Paid an extra £5 or so for next day delivery and have been using it all week. Brilliant!!!

I did a fair bit of research on these and from what I could see you are not going to get a unit, for a reasonable price, that will fit under the rear shelf of the Cali so you'll have to put it on top of the shelf or inside the van when on the move.

Power consumption is low enough to run on 240v Leisure when on the move so it means you can freeze on the move too. 12v is only refrigeration not freezing.

You can save a few ££ if you are happy with 240v only - http://www.minicoolers.co.uk/products/waeco/c40.htm

You will find that there really is only one manufacturer of these kind of devices, Waeco. There are some other brand names but they all lead back to Waeco.

Thanks going to look at them now.
Sounds like the thing I'm after

Why not use the Cali fridge as a freezer and just get a cheaper cool box for a fridge? I'm assuming the T5 Cali fridge will freeze as the T4 Cali fridge goes down to -20c.

You now I never thought of that.I have no idea what the fridge goes down to,but thinking about it when i first got it took a few trips to learn to freeze things.
What an excellent idea and going to look into that.

Any Calis owner know how low it will go.As long as its below freeze thats all i need.

Thanks

We have had experience of the built in unit freezing stuff when on max but we have also found it to be very susceptible to lower voltages when on battery.

Potentially cheaper idea though.

What you need to look out for with your average <£100 coolbox is that they are not so efficient at cooling. You can get better ones that are gas/240v/12v and are more efficient but once you start looking in that area (Go Outdoors at circa £150) then the mobicool comes back into play.

So check the quoted differential from ambient. We've had a £100 12/240v coolbox and frankly it was a waste of £100(well £70 really as I got £30 at the car boot sale)
