Fresh water tank drain

I've just drained the fresh water tank for the first time and there is water coming out all over the place from the undertray at the rear.
Looking underneath there is a hole in the undertray just behind the nearside rear wheel, I'm assuming that there should be a tube (like the waste tank drain) coming through this hole. Can anyone confirm this please.
My guess is that the undertray was taken off when the tow bar was fitted and the tube not replaced properly.

Really, there's wiring running inside that undertray. I'm beginning to wonder why the hell we've paid all this money for a vehicle that has so many excellent features but a number of rubbish ones as well. Penny pinching by VW.
