Fridge and auxiliary heater faults and surprising repair

I have had an intermittent fault with the Cali fridge since last summer. Stopped working on a trip to France last June and on return took it to a camper van specialist in Newark-on-Trent. They checked everything and declared it to be a dirty connection. Drove it away happily. Come spring the fridge is not working again so take it back. They spend five quite expensive hours getting nowhere. At this point I decide to phone Penguin in Portsmouth and book it in for them to probably change the control board. Day before we go check fridge and it's working again.
Decide to go down to Penguin anyway and have them check on it. They find no fault and they decide to build me a backup plug in circuit to carry with us and I leave, reassured. Get home and check it and its not working again and neither is the auxiliary heater.
I am by now having to stop my wife from putting the advert in the paper for a quick sale.

I then decided to book the much loved van into the VW agents in Nottingham who do our servicing.
They phone up to say that they have checked all circuits back to the fuse block under the front seat and have discovered that the two fuses responsible for the fridge and heater are in each others place. Changed them and both things are working perfectly well. So no new fridge parts or dismantling of the heater. We have no record of any work that has been done that would mentioned removal of fuse. Will let you know if all stays well as we set off to complete the Baltic Sea route with our bikes.

Can you ask your dealer which two fuses these were as a few folk have fridge issues & this may help them out. Thanks.

I too discovered some fuses in the wrong location!
The 30 amp battery charger fuse was in the position for the 10 amp reading lights fuse (needless to say the battery charger wasn't working)
Whilst I was there I checked the rest and the fridge fuse was swapped with the CCU fuse.
It could be easy to do if the fuse holder is viewed upside down whilst populating them.
This is on a 2015 van so I can only assume it has come from the factory this way.
What is strange from the OP is that if the fuse is in the wrong location it could potentially blow but it wouldn't start working again without replacing the fuse.
