Fridge bleeping every 25 seconds

Hi

We've got a 93 California, (LHD German import) which we currently live in while travelling in Europe. A few days ago the fridge started to bleep ever 25 seconds. It seemed to be working ok to start with, but now it's not very cold. Anyone any idea what the bleep signifies?

thanks, Rob

Hi rob is your Cali a t4. If so what make of fridge is it?

It could be a warning of temperature rise in refrigerator due to compressor not kicking in. Always remember that you never turn any compressor fridge or freezer on off then on again straight away. The reason being you have an uneven balance of pressures (high & low pressure system), you have to wait for the pressures to equalise before switching back on. This can take 2 or 3 minutes. If you do try and switch on quickly you can damage the compressor, the relay, overheat thermal switch, due to it overheating and trying to start.

Yes, it's a T4. I don't know what make the fridge is, I don't think it says anything on it (will check later). It's part of the Westfalia conversion, wired in to the main control panel at the front.

thanks, Rob
