Fridge replacement? VW T5 Cali 2007

Hi,

Our fridge consumes a lot of energy. It's a 2007 T5 Cali fridge. It works and cools, but we notice that it only cools on the rear wall of the fridge (the outside wall). Is this normal? And with the heat we have had this summer, it takes a lot of the battery - do you think changing to a new fridge would be a good idea?

Its normal - the back of the fridge gets cold. Batteries should last about 3 days with fridge on.

Okay, three days is what we got when it's very hot. I thought it would last for five days or so.

Maybe considr a solar panel to charge the leisure batteries when you're not on hook up?

I've been thinking about that. Any suggestions? I would prefer a solar panel that is not fixed permanently, but removable. Is this hard to find, and/or expensive?
