We are looking at changing to a GC600 and before we go a head a commit to this we would like your thoughts on the 5 top options would you add to the basic model to make it perfect?

Hi. Picking just 5 may be a challenge but here goes, in no particular order:

1) Rear view camera
2) Diesel heating
3) SOG toilet ventilation
3b) Solar Panel
4) Ambient Lights
5) Electric heated/Folding Mirrors (other options have to be selected to get this)

Awning is also a good option as fitting one at a later date is not easy.

HI thank you for options.We hadn't thought about the SOG toilet ventilation or the ambient light. The ventilation will be in the top 5. Ambient maybe something at the tail end. You mentioned it was a challenge for 5 options - how many and what are the remaining ones that are important to you.

also a retro fit
7) Wi-Fi router. Under the driver’s seat, the wiring is already in place and connected to the main control panel. You will have to fit an antenna but that’s easily run up the B pilar.

Hi below is list of options we had and my comments next to each if that helps (few more than 5 I am afraid):

• Solar panels - to me these are a no brainer and a must have.
• Rear camera - another must have to make driving easier
• Awning even though don't use huge amount certainly handy and would expect helps with resale.
• WAN hotspot - I like to have as makes life easier having second signal from phone as use alternative network so can normally get some internet.
• inductive charger pad - crap don't bother!!
• Diesel heating plus electric aux heater had previous motorhome with normal gas and realising going into Europe is total pain unless you fit refillable system decided this was best option for us. plus to fit refillable system would cost from £600 plus so this was £1200 well spent in my mind.
• Light and vision A - no brainer for me so use to auto wipers and lights!
• Lockable wheel nuts - cheap but really should really be standard!!
• Heated seats - wouldn't be without
• Folding rear view mirrors - due to being big van like the option to be able to pull these in on really narrow lanes when needed
• Blind spot monitoring - makes motorway driving lot easier to judge when passed a vehicle
• Step illumination - thought this was for awning light but still not really sure as appears might be cab step lights!!
• Drive assist A - which gave parking sensors all round just to make life easier due to size again

We bought our 680 as a dealer ex-demo, and they'd spec'd virtually all of the extras.

Which was lucky as I wouldn't be without any of them (apart from the proximity charger which should be renamed 'petite barbecue').

I say lucky because looking at the price of them, I would have probably not spec'd any of them and pocketed the saved cash and bought a new Ducati

Thank you so much for all of this. Thought 5 options would be enough but reading all of the responses there is much more that would make owning a Grand California a great choice.

• Diesel heating plus electric aux heater had previous motorhome with normal gas and realising going into Europe is total pain unless you fit refillable system decided this was best option for us. plus to fit refillable system would cost from £600 plus so this was £1200 well spent in my mind. I have an underslung gas tank and Truma 4e air & water heating being fitted.
• Light and vision A - no brainer for me so use to auto wipers and lights! Ordered on the new TGE
• Lockable wheel nuts - cheap but really should really be standard!! Steel wheels at present so not yet considered.
• Heated seats - wouldn't be without. Ordered on the new TGE

Not 1 people tell you maximum priority - You Must Buying extra.
Vw extension warranty - is not much you cost extra and is sleeping deep dream each night having. Much little trouble is cost you much € repair center when is short expire you Vw warranty!.

I am tell backway to front you extra i am have my 680 4m.

Back camera - in many country is legal must have - how is vw make extra is astonish. Is make high long car for you parking you not crash car at back when is park.

Diesel heat when is function is cost very small make warm car, many time is trouble is like night time 3am extinguish and is cold awake 4am. - have you good knee and hips? - you are must same than octopus shape going floor little door open and pressing round control reset boiler
Then is boiler activate make you warm - you can be return bed each night boiler reset after enjoy!.

sog you must be remember toilet hole close lever - is machine activate and make leisure battery extinguish when you are forget this.

led light is super white and is weak. My lexus is more penetrate far away darkness lights.
Vw is make headlamp led same than battery led play torch fischer price activity for childrens.

Ambient light make only yellow nice atmosphere - but is cannot make soft. Only is light On and Off. When is comes day, red blue green is terrible bright make head you painful and must consume pain relief tablets.
Many time is ambient light not functions - must be knee and hip slide under bed and red master power Off rotate and wait 10 minute. Again you knee and hip go under bed later 10 minute and rotate Power Red - On, then is can activate Ambient Light.

Electric mirror is not troubles and i am have but i am never fold - i am big parking home place.

Solar is must be, keep small size leisure battery energy or is quickly die when is not drive car.

Ask you sale center is make fix you fridge door lock lever or is collapse to floor metal pin and is then you cannot open fridge - handle lever cannot operate and is big trouble when happen long distance holiday and comes bad smell you food disintegrate.

Towbar Vw tell is locking, but is GC not lock. Is my Ocean is lock use key. Removing tow when is not need and keep home - is very heavy same than large rock.

Light pack B - is make wind front clean automatic - but is not work - must be all time on and off make self clean. - keeping pennies you bank this.

5. A 1000Wh lithium battery pack to park in the garage.

Other than that, Its possible to get by without solar but it’s very nice to have, as is The interior ambient lighting, and I wish I had the LED headlights but the van is drivable without them and I don’t feel the need to after market swap. I would definitely tick the sog but that’s easy to retro fit too and with Elsan green not essential imo.
