First the good news: my van is here at last!
Now the bad: driving home from collecting, after 30 miles or so the engine management light came on and a message saying check adblue (def). I called dealer when got home and he’d not heard of it before. Said he’d get vw assist to come out “not just an AA van”. 25 mins later an AA van turned up. He knew nothing of California’s and the error. He cleared the management light but the error is still there.
Spoke then to the dealer (out of hours) and they are coming to collect it on Tuesday. Offering membership to caravan club as a sorry.
Noticed that the dash is showing 12,000 miles adblue range which seems very wrong, thought max was 6,000. Hopefully it’s a sensor issue.
Taken the shine of delivery day that’s for sure.

I hope the bad news soon turn into "past" news and the vanadventure begins next weekend. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Pls report.

Oh what a disappointment

It does take the shine off. Probably just a sensor, two minute fix ... please let us know xx

It might be that the dealer overfilled the adblue tank. The way the level is calculated is with an ultrasonic sensor that must have an air gap at the top of the tank.
you could(if careful) syphon out about 5l of ad blue and then turn on the ignition for 30 seconds and see if the miles left drops.

I setup the We connect this morning and the adblue range on there shows as 1492. Very confusing.

So today I drove 40 miles to the coast. In the morning the error pinged up. After being parked up for a couple of hours it has gone! Not reappeared yet.

Hopefully you've now used a small amount of an overfill as Loz suggested. Will you cancel Tuesday?

Got another trip out planned tomorrow. Will see how it behaves then and if it is ok then will discuss with dealer on Tuesday morning but I think so yes.
From your number plate, our first letter is also "A", did your buy from Robinson's Norwich? If so they were very good in sorting out our Cali last summer after it dumped all the engine oil after 500 miles!

Hopefully just a minor issue which will soon be forgotten. :thumb

Close! Robinson’s Peterborough.

Thought that I saw something about VW having sorted that issue. As usual not sure where I saw it for reference.

VW have doubled the Adblue Tank capacity, not found confirmation if on all T6.1 models or just the 204. Could explain the 12K range.

@steverob55 sorry to hijack your thread but the 'we connect' did you get it already plugged in or was it handed over to you? I don't think I have one, apparently it should be in the pink port here under the steering wheel .

I have nothing in that port.
Download the app and follow the registration instructions. Took 5 minutes.

Another trip out this morning, before the rain set in, and no error messages. As blue range showing as 12,500 now, still 1492 in weconnect app.
Wondering whether to leave it and see if it settles down.
