Guildford - Colbornes

Purchased my ex. demo 180 DSG in December from Colbornes in Guildford. Excellent service, all done online then by phone with a PX on a specialist sports car. Have purchased many cars from many dealers, both new and used, and have to say this was the best experience I have ever had. No B.S., quick decisions and when I got home the front window blind was missing and arrived by post 24 hours after I notified them! Highly recommended. James.

I have also used Colbornes and yes they are very professional and good to deal with, they even offered to collect my Cali and leave a courtesy car with me ( I live 60 miles away from them )

Actually this dealer started OK with me, however, I have had a number of warranty issues dating back since Easter time which I am still waiting to be completely resolved!
I has been back a number of times despite asking for all the items to be cleared up in one go!
Finally this week we got our Cali back, but still our list is not quite complete - Overall they have been less than good. I am dismayed at their lack of attention to detail and their poor product knowledge, which only shines through when you really start to have some issues.
I was due to chnage my VW's (company) which I will not be doing through Colbournes - I have just bought a VW Beetle (Not through Colbournes) and most certainly my next Cali won't be through Colbournes - My advice? Try to find someone a little better....
Oh yes! I asked them to replace a rear cracked light cluster which I would pay for.... after three days in the workshop it came back with the same light cluster!

Sorry to hear that Joe. It seems that a good dealer at point of sale does not necessarily equate to a good dealer when working on warranty issues. I think we need a survey on those dealers that really know the product and who have the attention to detail along with customer care. I bought mine from JCB Ashford and they were not good at all at handover. We live near Reading so the nearest garage for warranty repairs would by Colbornes High Wycombe but not sure how competent they are.

I have been very pleased in the way we were dealt with, with all the staff and in particular Peter Minchin at VW Colbornes Guilford. No high pressure, no B.S and it shows because they are always busy. Paul.

I ordered my Cali with Terry Tamar , having looking at buying a new California for 2 years , he never saw me as a time waster and was always pleased to answer any questions I had.
I ordered a very high specked 180 DSG before Christmas last year and took delivery of it in April. I was always kept informed and they gave me seat covers and bumper protector because of late delivery which was not there fault.
On the whole I would fully recommend this garage

I am actually buying from Crawley but Gary in Guildford subsequently let me test drive a different gearbox to the one I had ordered as I was having a worrying feeling I wanted to change my gearbox from manual to DSG before the build week was confirmed by VW and no further changes were allowed. As Guildford happened to have a vehicle that suited my needs he happily let me test it despite knowing I was ordering elsewhere. He also spent time with me advising on many small points that you only tend to identify during the long wait for delivery!

A very positive experience at the dealership.
