Has anyone converted their Gaz to Calor?

In some places they not let you thoutch it until payed , you give the empty one at the counter and they give you a new , so botlle without cap is useless
That explains it. Bottle with a cap £55. Bottle without a cap £12.95. I bags the gap in the market selling caps for £40 ea. :thumb

Liz & Alan,
Sorry disagree about purchasing 907 bottles, most supermarkets in france sell them, we did have a bit of trouble in spain and portugal, but it was knowing where to go. No trouble in italy.

John

I have never thought to look in a supermarket, too busy wandering around the wine section...:happy
Thanks for the tip.

Alan

In most countries on the continent you are not allowed to fill your bottle (of whatever size or make) with LPG yourself at a regular gas station. Be careful if you consider to go that way! You can only get it filled at separate specialised gas dealers, and they are more difficult to find than Camping Gaz resellers...

We agree with most here that the 907 bottle is quite adequate for holiday use. We always have one spare with us, that doubles as gas source for our Cadac Safari Chef.

Having said that, sometimes you do not want Camping Gaz, since it is butane and butane doesn't evaporate below 4 degrees Celsius. So, when you are out in the cold in winter, you may have difficulties. Than you could do with a separate tank that you can have filled with propane. For such occasions there is this refillable aluminum gas bottle, the only one we have ever found that is available with the exact same dimensions as a Camping Gaz 907, and uses the same regulator:

It comes from Ekopool in Slovenia, and can be post ordered from Germany.
