I have been told that the OSR sensor is broken, but no one could tell me if that would be an MOT failure?
VW want £322.24 to replace, do I need to get this fixed?

That’s annoying! (and expensive!).
Yes it would be an MOT failure, my understanding is if a vehicle has a headlight levelling system fitted, it must be working. It could also be throwing your headlight beam out.

The part itself is around £100 (7E0941274 is the part number from what I can tell) guess the rest is labour and doing the lamp adjustment after, which requires vcds or whatever it’s called now.

Thanks for the confirmation.

Just had full service and wasn‘t expecting that.
That‘s the part number, but quote here is 178.84 parts, rest is labour!
Mega expensive for what it is, but don’t have a choice now.

As an aside, they didn’t fit a new air filter, because they’d run out! When I stopped laughing and asked how that was possible at a main van dealer, he said “no idea……..I don’t have any excuses. However, I haven’t charged you for it”. I was lost for anything polite to say, and that‘s unusual.

That’s a poor show, where did you go? Are they going to change the air filter when availabke?

Lookers Guildford. Air filter, sensor and MOT next. Wouldn’t recommend.

Find a small garage that also does MOT's; I find that the best ones tend to be close to railway stations as they rely on repeat commuter business so tend to be honest .

They will be able to tell you if it needs doing for MOT + quote for fix (if required)

Whether its a MOT failure or not depends on what position the headlamp was in when it broke.

Irrespective of an MOT failure or not, the whole reason for the sensor is to adjust the headlamp aim in line with the loading in the van. If you don't get it fixed there's a good chance you will be dazzling other drivers at night.
