Evening.

After a bit of advice in relation to the automatic headlight main beam assist.
I’ve RTFM in relation to these, but cannot get them to work.

My auto lights are on and work fine, but when I push the main beam stalk towards the dash to engage main beam, I don’t get the blue main beam indicator on the dash with an A in it, just the blue main beam indicator.

Do I need to enable this within settings somewhere, or does the main beam need to be on for a while before it switches to automatically dip for oncoming traffic? I’ve tried it a few times along the Bexhill bypass near me, as it’s quite a quiet poorly lit road at night, but had to manually dip the lights for the oncoming vehicle.

Any advice for this newbie, greatly appreciated. Thankyou.

I found some info. Maybe try it out? But you have to be on very dark roads for it to work properly.
It says:
"High Beam Assist allows your Transporter to Automatically turn the High Beam On and Off when driving at night when your vehicle detects an oncoming vehicle.

This system dips your high beam automatically to improve driver control and safety for both the driver and other road users. The system is automatically activated when travelling over 37mph with your dipped beams on. Using a camera built into the rear-view mirror, the system automatically dips the headlights when it detects either oncoming traffic or vehicles ahead. It is easier than constantly switching from high to dipped beam and safer too, giving you the best view of the road ahead without dazzling other road users."

It’s the minimum speed for activation that confused me for a while, and still trips me up as our other car works at all speeds. Travelling cautiously through narrow roads isn’t great as you need to manually operate the lights.

Thankyou TripleBee and Hawthorn37, I’m unsure if I was going over 37mph, as part of the road is a 40mph limit. I will try again as I’m off to Southampton for a couple of nights tomorrow evening.

My previous 2015 Mazda MX5 had this system, but it worked at any speed also.
