Both heated front seats have stopped working on 2016 California. They both light up on the dash and have checked the fuse which is okay.
Is there anything else we can try ourselves before resorting h to the dreaded dealer?

You could check the plugs and sockets under the seats, but odd that both would fail at the same time.

Thanks, will try that

Having looked for any obvious loose plugs or chafed wires, it all looks okay.
Can anyone suggest any other checks we can do please?

Hi Maggie,

If both not working first port of call would be the fuse, it if you’ve checked that, and checked the plugs then It would be useful to check if they are getting 12v when switched on if you have a multimeter. If they’re getting power then it would suggest the element is broken.
Have heard they are easy to break if you often stand on the seat - not suggesting you do of course!

Thanks for replying Chris.
It’s been stood on for 8 years, so not that fragile! Don’t have a multi meter and wouldn’t know what to do with it anyway!
Our local garage that looks after our transporter wont touch it.Guess its off to VW

Try moving the switches constantly with the ignition off, if the van has not been used for that period of time, the contacts could be gummed up and just need a bit of constant use to free the contacts. Likewise check the fuse, although it may look fine, they can break without you actually seeing they have. Try a different fuse and see if that works?

Van is in everyday use and changed the fuse even though it looked okay. Thanks for the suggestions.

According to the Fuse Diagram the 25amp fuse powers a relay rather than the seats directly. J774.
No idea where it is located, but something to check.
