We have done it at last, after years of thinking about it, having reached an age when we should be sensible we have bought our first camper.
We pick up our new silver Cali on Wednesday. We have been told by the VW dealer that they are not licenced to set up gas etc. Any suggestions where we should go, we live near Newbury. We plan to have our first trip away this coming weekend also any other advice welcome.
We are so excited, but a bit nervous!!

You need a Campingaz 907 cylinder from a camping/caravan/diy type shop. Go outdoors sell them if you have one nearby.

Just pop down to yew tree garden centre they do the 907 cylinder if you want somewhere close by or motor home place just the other side of woolhampton.

If you are heading towards Devon I have a few half full 907 cylinders for £25 each

You will also need a hook up cable, unless the dealer has been generous and thrown one in.

Buy a 10 m, a 25m one and a waterproof connector, the distances to the hook up can be alarmingly long. Go Outdoors can be very competitive. We generally use the 10m one as it is lighter than the 25m one. Nothing worse than getting to a remote campsite 30m from the hook up on a wet dark night...

plus a thingy to attach it to a 13 amp socket for pre trip charging and monthly top up.

Are connectors allowed on campsites?
I had a 10m cable thrown in but was caught out so then bought a 25m. The 10m is left behind.

Newbie here and places do sell them but where can you get the Campingaz bottle filled once they are bought ?

Done on an exchange basis. many caravan and camping equipment Dealers do it just look for the Camping Gaz sign.

Take any calor gas cylinder in to exchange for the 907 needed and if you don’t have a empty cylinder get one of eBay for £5 to £10. As it could cost about £80 without the empty bottle.
