Hi everyone,

Thought I'd join up because I've found several useful threads.

Long time user of enthusiast forums starting in the heyday of audisport.net.

I recently made a change from a camper_versions T5 build to a T6 Cali 4mo:

Which sold in a day on eBay.

And collected this last week:

And immediately did this:

and got rid of the chrome bars:

As of yesterday 100W solar thanks to some threads on here.

Oh yeah, this is its stable matePXL_20201105_200834715.NIGHT.jpg

You got 16" tyres on a 17" wheel? Huge improvement with those OZ's

Very nice bus that I looked at it when it was for sale but I’m not ready yet (financially )but would of definitely gone for it ticked every box for me enjoy

Welcome. Nice looking van. I see you got to keep the sports car. I had to trade in my jaguar F Type for our van Don't regret it though. Had loads more fun in the van.

Looks great. Out of interest, what made you move from a conversion to a Cali?

Thanks for the kind words guys, it ticked a lot of boxes for me too.

Cali over our conversion, theres a couple of things:
More car like for rear passengers, air con, speakers etc. the cali has rear seats on sliders and our conversion didnt, so when we're travelling in France the kiddo is more comfortable in the back and we're not having to shout back to him.
The Cali is much less noisy inside than the the T5, seems like VW put time into stopping stuff from banging and creaking about. Much less noisy on the motorway too, double glazing and different roof style I guess.
I use the Cali/T5 50% of the time to keep the miles of the RS, the Cali is more flexible for that kind of thing, like having a usable boot.
Pop up roof on the Cali with a mechanical lock seems like a proper solution, securing with T5 roof straps always felt like a hack rather than a solution.
Mostly I wanted 4Mo and Diff lock etc. I've always had 4wd audi's so I like the idea of this go anywhere, do anything adventure mobile, there was a couple of occasions that 2wd let the T5 down in uneven, slightly slippy car parks.

I miss the fridge from the T5, the twinkly roof and the black bike rack other than that happy with the change. Road trip to Italy shortly will give it a proper shake down

Mine’s a t5 conversion with a California roof hopefully in about one year ill be in a position to get a factory California 4 motion, I drive a a4 allroad and just love the 4 wheel drive safety etc

Re classified to 3.3Tonnes??
T32 has uprated front struts/hubs. Also means MOT test not done by car garages.
Towing makes no difference as it's the Train weight that decides that.
