High mileage Calis

Just resurrecting an old thread but I do like to see what issues people have had and take that into consideration about keeping ours...Now 60k , coming upto 9 years old...only issue has been dreaded warning lights which i now have Carista for peace of mind-probably going to hang onto our van -cost us 42 K in 2018 when it was 6 months old
I sold my 2014 5.1 to a friend, it had 141 I miles on in after 10 years, had it from new, still running as new when I sold it. Wanted to but one of the last proper Californias.

I believe the key to engine longevity is regular oil changes.

My new Call has done 10 K miles in its first year.

My Beach is now 9 years old and 65K miles. Apart from servicing and wear and tear items, 2025 was an expensive year for me. The problems I have had in 2025 are: front crankshaft oil seal leak, power steering pump leaking, new heater box and motor due to linkage breaking, two new ABS sensors.

I missed out that Ive also had 2 abs sensors … hopefully 2026 will be less expensive for you

Just clocked up 30k on our California and into fourth year of ownership without any real issues.
One puncture, a phantom waning light in the middle of nowhere which went as fast as it came on and an "encounter" with our tailgate and a german caravanned on a site in Croatia.
We have just got back from a months adventure in Devon/Dorset and saw plenty of examples of older models in fantastic condition-Just wondered how many on here have kept their californias for years and what mileage they have clocked ?
Passed 100,000 in October. 2012 Ocean. Bought in 2016 and we have driven 73,000 in it. Still working well. Only problem, due to its age, we are banned from many cities (or I have to pay to enter) due to the silly LEZs.

March 2017 California Beach.

Passed 100,000 miles in May 2025; now nearing 110,000 miles.

Third set of tyres.
Second engine battery.
Leisure battery f***ed.
No breakdowns. (EDIT - except flattened engine battery x3 {user f***-up by camping too long off grid}).
Serviced annually.
Treated to a full tank of premium diesel at the first refuel after every AdBlue refill.
A few items fixed under warranty (including a v. expensive item that alludes my memory). Warranty stretched to nearly eight years (3 years original and bought two extra years plus after 11 months out of warranty bought another two years warranty with a service and MOT plan).

At least *500* nights slept in the van, nearly all as a family of four.

35 different countries visited.

Most northerly: Nordkapp
Most easterly: east most point of the border between Finland and Russia
Most southerly: Tarifa
Most westerly: Cabo da Roca
Highest: Col du Tentes 2208m
Lowest: Magerøysundet Strait -212m
Fastest: 102mph (speedometer)
Furthest on a tank (80L): 1246km

Wow !! Impressive stats

Still a "baby" at 91k miles but it is the dreaded 180 BiTdi .....

One main battery recently replaced
Heater fan and resistor
One exhaust
One DSG sump cover
Front ball joints
A few sets of tyres.....CCs now give 2.1x the mileage of the Bridgestone.
One set of rear coils recently replaced on the B14 Komforts
One interior flex interior reading light (Warranty)
The majority of the parts on the electric side door (Warranty)

5 years of ownership. 30K miles added. One puncture, heating actuator failure, power steering pump and starter battery. Otherwise she does not have a mark on bodywork and is immaculate.
