Howdy y'all,
Happy New Year to our fellow T4 owners (and the T5/6's too ;) )!

Looking to replace the box standard factory horn with something a little more pleasing to the ear - something like the following:
https://www.amazon.de/dp/B000COBK8A/?tag=unique0ed-21

Seems most two-tones come with a relay, i guess to route power to the second horn so as not to overload the feed to what was the single horn.

Is the relay absolutely necessary or can just spring a feed from the first to the second.

Cheers!

Remember this....

Did cross my mind... but maybe a little too tuneful for the auto-control :)

...and definitely a relay or two for that!

My old Citroen CX had a great horn arrangement, push the horn partially and you got a normal “toot” for in town driving, push it all the way and the twin air horns fired up for the motorway!

Difficult to say without knowing exactly what the horn control circuit consists off in terms of wire size/switch rating. At a guess I'd say quite a low rating given it's normally a momentary load (quick blast of the horn). Perhaps a two tone unit (Dukes styleee) lasts a bit longer.
It'll take about ten minutes longer to wire in the relay so I'd go with that.

Just to clarify, not looking for a musical horn...
I'm not against wiring in the relay, was just curious if it was absolutely necessary.
So with relay it is then ;-)

How about fitting some Ice Cream van chimes?

I could set the fridge to freeze and sell a few

I reckon if you’re serious about your horns you go for the “train horns” but you need a compressor and air tank..... and from what I’ve seen on YouTube there’s a good chance you’d get a brick through your windscreen if you use them ....
