Hot water in a Cali

has anyone got experience on installingb heat exchanger in their Cali? for example:

This looks like a great bit of kit for those who wild camp a lot.

There’s loads on AliExpress just the same and quite cheap but I question whether Cali life is right if you have to cart that around. We just use a Collapz pump and bucket: Part of the fun is boiling a kettle and having a short shower before the bucket runs out

I’ve ordered one for camping whilst I wait for my Cali. Will let you know.
Do you have the shower attachment in the rear of your Cali @Nate73 ? If so, I will be interested to hear whether it can feed water to the Hottap heater or whether the heater needs a separate supply?

I don’t have my Cali yet but I presume the shower feed is pumped to the rear connection therefore with the right connection should be able to feed the Hottap. I’ve ordered the nomad kit so will be able to test what works best. Happy for someone up north with a Cali and shower connection to come over and test it.

The nomad has too many bits lying around for my taste (add a butane canister and water tank to @GrumpyGranddad 's picture above).

The Companion looks like a great piece of kit, but would need to find a European solution to the mini propane canister and a willing Aussie to handle the purchase and packaging for me.

In the meantime I bought the Kärcher OC3 Plus. If I can't find a source of warm water I can always boil a kettle. In case it's a bust I can always use it around the garden.

Anyone tried this?

I’d be interested in something like this.

Doesn’t someone make a shower curtain for when the tailgate is up so you’re fully hidden?

There are quite a few tailgate tents actually, some that just drape the open tailgate and others that have a frame and provide additional storage.
I'm not going to leave the van or go to sleep with the tailgate open so why I'm not sure if a free standing shower tent might be better. I can't decide.

Thanks, I decided on getting one something stand alone and ordered this https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08XGJRXWW/?tag=eliteelect-21

I've also ordered this https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0856QTHVQ/?tag=eliteelect-21

Basically will boil a few kettles and mix in the bucket with some cold water and put the tent close to the cali so the 12v reaches, we'll see how it goes, camping this weekend with no toilets and no shower.

I think you made a good choice with the tent and the shower. I think I might get the same but I'll wait for your feedback (I'm also still waiting on the Cali).

Hope so. Will report back!

We have a free standing shower/toilet tent @pluc99 but so far have not used it. Most sites have decent facilities and we’ve not wild camped yet.
