Jersey Ferry from Poole.

As a leisure cyclist in my 60s I wouldn’t cycle on Jersey apart from on the wider roads around St.H.
We found that most of the roads are too busy and often narrow to really enjoy cycling; it’s doable, though not fun for us.
If you are an ardent cyclist it would be an issue.
I am also a cyclist in my late 60s. If you are not use to small roads then I can quite understand your concerns. However there are green lane routes throughout the island where speed limit is restricted to 15mph to encourage walkers and cyclists. It’s possible to get from one side of the island to the other using just these lanes.
Also last year the island enacted law giving cyclists more protection in law over drivers when using the roads

That is all good to hear, thanks.
I knew of, and have used, the green lanes, though on more than one occasion have encountered traffic at well over 15mph. I think it is quite difficult to drive for more than a few hundred metres at that speed, and it tends to creep up almost unknowingly.
But I take your point entirely that it is possible to cycle on Jersey, and I would include Guernsey too.

The RNLI have their College in Poole which has a hotel and is a nice place to stay, open to the public. I can’t recall the parking arrangements though. Very near the ferry and I would recommend.

We have stayed there and totally agree with your comments. There is a small car park adjacent to the hotel which, if I recall, you need a code from reception
