Just switched my van insurance from LV to comfort
the reason ?
My car is with LV
some muppet ran into my rear offside corner denting wheel arch and bumper

15 weeks to get into garage and over 3 weeks later I am still without my car !!
I did not tick the "provide me with a hire car" option when I took out the insurance as every other repair i have ever had the garage has given me a little car for free.

so you can imagine my surprise when the first people to call me after i reported the accident was Enterprise Rent a Car
This was followed by the Ambulance chasers (AKA claim management company) and then finally the repair garage.
So when i lost my temper with the Claim Management Company last week as I have had not had a car for 3 weeks they said, "that because your insurance company have instructed the garage to not give you a courtesy car"
so because i did not pay LV the extra £25 to have a hire car they are making sure I feel some pain !
When my car insurance is renewed it wont be LV
and when i was telling a mate about it he said that the exact same thing happened to him and he was also with LV so avoid them !

Check your comfort policy.

Many specialist "Motor home" insurers, including the caravan club, do not provide for a courtesy car when vehicle is off road, the assumption being that e "leisure" vehicle does not qualify as it is not a daily-use vehicle. You may need to specify it with comfort.

Sorry to hear of your bad experience. I hope it get' fixed soon.

I dont mind not having the van if it is being repaired, but i do object to having to drive from the Peak District (Home) to central London (Work) many times in my California because the garage is being told "dont give him a car" even more annoying is that Enterprise have been in touch a number of times offering me a "Credit Hire" i.e. a car for free unless the accident turns out to be my fault or goes "no fault" then i get sent a big bill

As this thread is about LV. I thought I would just update this topic with a conversation I just had with LV regarding the latest policy document that came with my renewal, it states in there that you are not insured for theft if a window or sunroof is open, and in the insurance document booklet, if the roof is open.
So I called them to clarify and they said that that purely refers to cars; as we have a campervan It is normal to have the roof elevated but this doesn't count as being open, so we would still be covered with the roof up as long as the windows are closed and the doors are locked.

I also checked that we were okay with the gas cooker and the running water and this was also fine.
