My Cali is 2006 and I have had it from new (imported from Holland).Although I have done a lot of practical work and modification for long trips, I know little about it technically so would appreciate some advice about the leisure batteries. They are not holding a charge very well now.
How do i check the batteries?
Is the battery under the seat dedicated powering the roof alone or does it power other things too?
Is there any problem about disconnecting the batteries to put in a new one?
Any suggestions as to best batterie(s) to get?
Is this a job that needs to be done by a VW garage, or could It be a DIY job?

Hello
I did exchange both batteries in my 2007 Cali myself.
Apparently they are connected in parallel and as far as I can figure out, so they provide power for each device in parallel.
Anyway removing one battery does not cut off the power.
I exchanged one by one.
Exchange is very straight forward, just remember to disconnect the Negative lead first, as per the label next to each battery. Make sure the Positive lead do not touch any metal part of the chassis, providing that the second battery is still connected.
